Indiana Artist

Art by J. Rodney Reveal

In my paintings, I try to translate my feelings of a place or an object onto paper with the same emotional impact that I receive when I experience it.

I have found that watercolor with its translucent brilliance that gives a sparkle quality to the paintings and the spontaneity of controlled accidents lends a freshness I prefer. I use a wet into wet and a layering process.

My favorite subjects to paint are nature, midwestern landscapes, and the American West. Nature can exhibit itself through weathered buildings, old trucks, rusty train cars, and structural details.
